ABOUT US

Here at Elevate Black Wellness, we stand steadfast in our mission: to improve the well-being of Black communities across Washington State. But we don't walk this path alone. In a groundbreaking collaboration Momomentum Professional Strategy Partners and the Washington State Department of Health, we've connected grassroots enthusiasm with institutional support.

This partnership empowers us to hold institutions accountable, advocate for systemic change, and, above all, prioritize Black wellness. Together, we strive to be a trusted source 'for us, by us,' an amalgamation of community spirit and governmental stewardship, both committed to laying the foundation for healthier futures. Elevate Black Wellness is aligned with broader public health goals and fueled by community voices. In essence, we're a trusted source 'for us, by us'—a living, breathing testament to the power of community engagement.

OUR MISSION

Elevate Black Wellness is committed to enhancing the health of Black communities in Washington State through prevention, engagement, and empowerment. We hold all institutions accountable for their impact on Black well-being and work collaboratively to dismantle systemic health barriers. By aligning our community-driven initiatives with broader public health goals, we strengthen our collective commitment to wellness. As a trusted source 'for us, by us', we stand as a testament to the power of a community committed to its health and wellness, building a brighter future through knowledge, engagement, and collective action.

OUR GOALS

Increase Trust in Healthcare Providers
We are intent on rebuilding the trust within healthcare systems in Washington state. When Black people feel they're in an environment that respects them, listens to their concerns, and understands their unique lived experiences, we are more likely to embrace healthcare services and, importantly, preventative measures like screenings.

Provide Culturally Responsive Support
Culture isn't just about the food we eat or the music we enjoy; it's deeply entangled with how we view healthcare. We're advocating for care that doesn't just stick a band-aid on the issue but understands the tapestry of experiences, both historical and current, that Black people bring into the examination room.

Increase Peer and Social Support
The age-old saying that 'it takes a village' still rings true, especially regarding healthcare. Family, friends, and trusted peers can be powerful motivators in helping us to prioritize our health.  Through these networks, we aim to reduce stigma and bridge the barriers that hinder healthcare engagement.

Education and Awareness
We are arming our communities with the tools to navigate healthcare systems like a pro and we will work hard to dispel myths and misconceptions swiftly and efficiently.

Address Systemic Barriers
Whether it's unequal access to healthcare, the high costs, or racial disparities, these are the silent issues that need loud advocates. These barriers can make the healthcare journey more like navigating a maze. Elevate Black Wellness aims to stabilize that terrain, making healthcare not just a privilege for the few, but a right for each one of us.
